taking part in the production, “Barefoot in
the Park,” to be presented at The New Theatre

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Terry of Ketcham
Avenue recently moved to Palm City, Fla.
Mr. Terry is employed by Grumman’s.
Miss Karleen A. Erhardt, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Karl G. Erhardt Jr., of Clark Street,
has been cited with honors for her 1967-68
scholastic achievements at the annual Skidmore
College fall convocation at Saratoga Springs.
At Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pa.,
the freshman class of 670 men and women
includes Miss Sharon Theresa Gavin,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nickolas Gavin of Hayward Street.
Their 56th wedding anniversary is being
celebrated today by Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Ehmann of Chestnut Avenue with a quiet evening at home.
Accompanying Mr. and Mrs. William Craig
Jenkins of Rider Avenue to Port Jefferson
Saturday afternoon to attend the wedding
of their son, William C. Jenkins Jr., to Miss
Julie Edna Newton of Port Jefferson were
Mrs. William Jamieson and Mrs. Charles
Connolly, both of Patchogue, and Mrs. Stuart
Van Cott of Arthur Avenue. Among the other
guests present were the Jenkins’ son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edward A. Fleury
of Patchogue and Mrs. William Young of
Jamaica, Mr. Jenkins’ aunt.
A naval wedding at the Naval Base, Norfolk,
Va., was that of Corpsman and Mrs.
Dennis Schultz, which took place Aug. 14 in
the base’s chapel. The bride, the former Miss
Maria Rose Collacola of Patchogue, is also in
the service as a WAVE in the Norfolk dispensary.
Corpsman Schultz will be leaving today for Vietnam.
The wedding ceremony of Mr. and Mrs.
Frank R. Le Pre Jr., took place Sept. 15 in
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church. After
spending a week in Bermuda, the couple is
making their home in Blue Point. Mrs. Le
Pre is the former Miss Jean Campbell of Patchogue,
and is employed by Pelletreau and
Pelletreau, a law firm in Patchogue. Mr. Le
Pre is employed by the Long Island Lighting Company.
Players from minor to senior leagues in
the Patchogue Youth Association were honored
at a dinner at Felice’s restaurant recently.
Among the individual awards presented
were to members of the Major League All-
Star team. They are Michael Ambrosio, John
Agnetti, Joe Pontieri, Michael Mancuso, Bob
Becker, Dennis Zenker, Gary Kaiser, Tom
Palace, Mike Aviano, Tad Waldbauer and Mike Brennan.
On duty in Vietnam is Airman 1/c John C.
Scroggins of Patchogue. A member of the
Pacific Air Forces, he is stationed at Bien Hoa, Vietnam.
Craig Collins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene
Collins of Bellport, celebrated his 8th birthday
with a party for eight of his friends last
Wednesday at his home on Bellhaven Road.
Visiting last week with Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Mullaney of South Howells Point Road
were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Kennedy
of Bedford, and James Kennedy Jr., of
Los Alamos, N.M. Mrs. John E. Mullaney of
Bedford is spending this week with her son and daughter-in-law.
Miss Elizabeth Bergin, daughter of Mrs.
Edward Bergin of Academy Lane, is attending
the School of Nursing, Misericordia Hospital in New York City.
Terry Perino, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Perino, entertained a few friends at miniature
golf followed by refreshments at his
home Friday in celebration of his 12th birthday.
On Saturday Karin Rotzinger was treated
with her first visit to the Bronx Zoo. She
accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Robert Poten and
daughters of General McLean Drive.
Summer training, two weeks at the Navy’s
newest recruit training command, the Naval
Training Center at Orlando, Fla., has been
completed by Sea Cadet Richard D. Colli of Brookhaven.
Chet and Pamela Bornscheuer of Bergen
Lane, Blue Point, returned last Sunday after
spending a weekend with their father, C.
Bornscheuer, in Woodstock, Va., where they visited with friends.
The sixth-grade class of Mrs. Mouzakes of
the Blue Point Avenue School, accompanied
by the art teacher, Mrs. Robert Elliot, and
parents, Mrs. Brunquell and Mrs. Ruzzito,
spent a few hours last Wednesday collecting
objects for art projects during the school
year at Heckscher State Park.
Mr. and Mrs. James Conroy of Stephen
Road, Bayport, announce the engagement
of their daughter, Regina, to Donald R. Wilkan,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Wilkan
of Atlantic Avenue, Blue Point. They are
both graduates of James Wilson Young High
School, Bayport. Miss Conroy is attending
Mid-Suffolk School for Practical Nurses in
Bohemia. Mr. Wilkan is at present in the
employ of his father. No date has been set for the wedding.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wagner and son,
Joseph, of Walnut Avenue spent Parents
Weekend at Ithaca College, Ithaca, N.Y.,
where their daughter, Jean, a student majoring
in music, is the recipient of both an Ithaca
College and a Regents Scholarship. Their son
Andrew, a senior at Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute, Troy, N.Y., has been presented with
an award for outstanding cadet in the Air
Force ROTC, in which he holds the rank of
cadet lieutenant colonel.
Nan Leslie Miller, daughter of Dr. and
Mrs. William Miller of Lee Avenue, has been
named to the Dean’s List of Duke University
for the spring semester on the basis of high academic standing.
David Charles Terry, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Raymond Terry of Patchogue, born Sept. 4,
was christened Sept. 28 in Our Lady of Mt.
Carmel R.C. Church. The godparents were
Mrs. Margaret Crevoiserat and Kenneth Terry,
both of Patchogue. A buffet luncheon
was later held at the home of the baby’s
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Andy Schiatta of Patchogue.
Miss Carol L. Petty of Jayne Avenue, a
graduate of Patchogue High School, has
begun her studies in the one-year executive
secretarial program at Browne’s Business
School in Bay Shore.
A southern bride was the lovely Mrs.
Robert Glen Monahan after their recent wedding
ceremony in Rosemont Baptist Church,
Lexington, Ky. Mr. Monahan, son of Mr. and
Mrs. James Monahan of Swezey Street, is a
teacher of the fifth grade in Bayport’s Sylvan
Avenue School. He and his bride, the former
Miss Sue Land of Lexington, Ky., are living in Patchogue.
Voluntarily extending his tour of duty in
Vietnam, Army Specialist 5 William A. Matthews
of Patchogue will serve an additional
six months with the 292nd Finance section
near Vung Tau. He is a travel clerk and holds
the Army Commendation Medal and the Purple Heart.
South Bay VFW Post 8300, East Patchogue,
will hold a barn dance at the hall
on Dunton Avenue on Oct. 26. Music for
dancing will be provided by the Joe Sherri
Combo. Commander Frank Drapel, after discussing
the event with chairmen Frank Lenz,
Tony Costanza and Larry Musso, promises a number of surprises.
Houseguest of Mr. and Mrs. Leveret Hulse
of South Country Road is Mr. Hulse’s brother,
Malcolm Hulse, who is from Pittsburgh,
Pa. and Miami, Fla. He will be here until the
middle of November.
Mr. and Mrs. Francis Hermus and family
of North Brewster Lane, Bellport, spent four
days last week vacationing in Upper New
York. They went to Cohoes, the North Pole,
Lake Placid, Lake George and the Catskills.
Mr. and Mrs. John Tully of North Howells
Point Road visited for the weekend with
Mrs. Tully’s brother-in-law and sister, Mr.
and Mrs. Robert C. Gerow of Wallingford, Pa.
Last Wednesday Army Specialist 4 Peter
Simmons, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas F.
Simmons of Browns Lane, left for a two-year
tour of duty in Panama.
Mrs. Edward Bergin and family have
moved to 25 Thornhedge Road.
The Future Teachers Association of
Bellport High School held its first meeting
recently to elect officers for the 1968-69
school year. Elected officers are: Pam Rasso,
president; Cheryl Regalmuto, vice president;
Jacquie Lambert, secretary, and Wendy Smith, treasurer.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth F. Herzog of East
Patchogue announce the engagement of
their daughter, Suzanne, to machinist’s mate
fireman apprentice Robert C. Marrion, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas A. Marrion of Bellport.
Miss Herzog graduated in 1967 from Bellport
High School and attended Suffolk County
Community College, Selden. She has been
accepted at Grasslands School of Nursing.
MMFA Marrion, also a 1967 graduate of
Bellport High School, enlisted in the Navy in
February and has just completed 15 weeks
of machinist Mate “A” School. He is to report
to California for further training in nuclear power school.
Mrs. Alan Baker of Brookhaven, Mrs. Helen
Walker of Bellport and Mrs. Mabel Walser
of Sayville spent the weekend in Sharon, Conn.
Mr. and Mrs. H. Hastings Reddall attended
the Yale-Colgate football game in New Haven, Saturday.
Miss Sally Beyer has resigned her position
in Washington, D.C. and is now at her home
on Beaver Dam Road.
Miss Virginia E. Wade of Blue Point was
the guest of honor at a bridal shower tea last
Saturday. The shower was held at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Weiss of Bellport,
with Mrs. Weiss as the hostess. Attending
from Blue Point were Mesdames R. Clark,
F. Pitcher, G. Steinbach, J. Dorn, M. Rose,
and the bride’s mother, Mrs. C.N. Wade. Miss
Wade will be married Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Drake of Atlantic
Avenue announce the birth of their sixth son
and 12th child, Matthew James, born Saturday
at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Mary Nicholson of Northern Boulevard,
Shirley, announces the engagement
of her daughter, Miss Elizabeth M., to Earnest
Schlichting, of Schoenfeld Boulevard,
Patchogue. Both Miss Nicholson and Mr.
Schlichting are employed at Brookhaven
Memorial Hospital, Patchogue. They plan to
be married early next year.

Miss Cathie Purdy, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. John Purdy of Washington Avenue,
who graduated in August from Athens College,
Athens, Ala., with a B.A. degree in
physical education, American history and
sociology, will be teaching in Spokane,
Wash. A 1965 graduate of Patchogue Senior
High School, Miss Purdy was on the Dean’s
List in college and maintained her standing
among the first 10 of her class.
Mr. and Mrs. Gene Goll of Medford Avenue,
on their recent trip to Tulsa, Okla., took
their son Kenneth to enter Sparten, Okla.
Aeronautics School. They visited Mr. and
Mrs. Richard Goll and family, whom they
had not seen in eight years. Richard Goll is
still in the Air Force, in which Gene Goll has also served.
Mr. and Mrs. Foster Powers of Patchogue
wish to announce the engagement of their
daughter, Bonnie, to John R. Sanfilippo of
Pleasantville, N.Y. Miss Powers is a graduate
of Patchogue High School and attended
Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, Brooklyn, and
Mandle School for Medical Assistants in
Hempstead. She is employed by Dr. David
Spielsinger. Mr. Sanfilippo graduated from
Pleasantville High School in 1964. He attended
State University of New York at New
Paltz and is employed by AT&T in New York
City. No date has been set for the wedding.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Miskosky and daughter,
Linda, of East Patchogue, spent the
weekend touring upstate New York in order
to view the changing colors of the fall season.
Barbara Derby of Southern Boulevard
entertained her bridge club last Tuesday
evening. The table award was given to high scorer Helene Perry.
Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Capicotta of Bieselin
Road, Bellport, sailed for Italy on the SS
Michelangelo Aug. 25 for a month’s vacation.
They toured important cities and historical
points of interest and visited relatives
in Naples and Rome, returning home by jet
the end of September.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry K. Dominy of Woodland
Park Road recently returned from an
18-day auto trip to Banff and Jasper national
parks in Alberta, Canada.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Zavesky of Circuit
Road drove to Newark, N.J., for the weekend
to attend a party given in celebration of
the 7th wedding anniversary of their cousin,
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mazarski, Saturday night.
The following couples drove to West Point
Academy on Saturday to see the Army-California
football game: the Robert Mahoneys,
the Edward McKiernans, the Richard Halls
and the Leonard Halls of Bellport; the John
Gormans of Patchogue; and the Richard
Chants of Bayport. The group enjoyed a
tailgate picnic at noon. Following the game,
they had dinner at Bear Mountain Inn before returning home.
Last Thursday Wallace Ross of Academy
Lane flew to Miami, Fla., where he sailed
on board Jack Price’s Comanche in the
Columbus Day Regatta. Approximately 150
sailboats raced off Miami in the weekend
series. While in Florida, Mr. Ross visited in
Fort Lauderdale with John Snedeker, formerly of Bellport.
The marriage of Mr. and Mrs. John N.
Orlando took place Oct. 6 in St. Joseph the
Worker R.C. Church, East Patchogue. The
wedding reception was held at the Better
‘Ole in Brookhaven. Their wedding trip to
Williamsburg, Va., and Washington, D.C.,
was followed by their taking up residence
in Rockville Centre, where the bridegroom
is employed as a funeral director. The lovely
bride is the former Miss Maureen Garruppo,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Garruppo of Bellport.
Virginia Wade Hart was the hostess at a
prenuptial breakfast given at the home of
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Wade
of Bergen Lane, Blue Point, last Saturday
morning before her wedding, for her four
bridesmaids and her matron of honor.
The sixth-grade boys at the Blue Point
Avenue School went on a field trip last
Thursday to the workshop of wood sculptor
John Kingston of Clearview Place. Mr.
Kingston provided tools and materials for
the boys to use to become familiar with the media.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis R. Fontana exchanged
nuptial vows Sept. 29 in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel
R.C. Church, Blue Point. Their wedding
trip was two weeks in California and they
are making their home in Sayville. Mrs. Fontana
is the former Miss Elena Marie Ferri of Blue Point.

Mrs. Carol Smith of Oxbow Road was
surprised Oct. 15 with a baby shower held
in her honor at her home. It was given by
Mrs. Donald Crevoiserat of Nottingham
Avenue and several friends. The opening
of her many gifts, at which Mrs. Smith’s
2-year-old daughter, Kelly, assisted, was
followed by a buffet dinner. The 28 guests
attending included both family members and friends.
Miss Linda Milian, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Walter Milian of Sheldon Avenue,
has been accepted into membership of
the women’s glee club of the State University
College at Oneonta. A graduate of
Patchogue High School and a sophomore
at the college, she will participate in all
activities of the club during a season of concert tours.
Miss Susan M. Gierer of Roe Boulevard
has been admitted into the freshman class
of Becker Junior College in Worcester,
Mass. She is enrolled in the executive secretarial course.

Smiles and flowers marked the
wedding day of Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Yarrington
Jr., who were married recently in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Patchogue.
Mrs. Yarrington, who is the former Miss Gail
E. Still of Medford, is employed at Kaller’s Jewelry store, Patchogue.
Mr. Yarrington is working toward a degree at Adelphi Suffolk College.
Lucy DeNardo of Southern Boulevard, East Patchogue, has
recently returned from Chicago,where she attended
the famous Wilton School of Cake Decorating.
As a professional, she has taught in the adult education
system for the past eight years and will be teaching
this year at the Patchogue High School and the
Center Moriches High School.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wallen of East
Patchogue announce the engagement of
their daughter, Veronica, to Lieutenant
Ellis Nelson, U.S. Marine Corps. Miss Wallen
is a graduate of Bellport High School
and George Washington University. She is
presently teaching at Glencarlyn Elementary
School in Arlington, Va. Lieut. Nelson
is a graduate of Tenafly High School,
Tenafly, N.J., and the University of Texas,
at Austin. He is presently undergoing flight
training at Fort Wolters, Texas. A Christmas wedding is planned.
Weekend houseguests of Mr. and Mrs.
John Coakley of Bell Street, Bellport, were
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John D. Coakley
Sr., of Watertown, Mass.
Robbie Werner, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Werner of General McLean Drive,
and several friends went bowling on Saturday
in celebration of his 9th birthday. Later
they had pizzas before returning home.
Charles Sohl of Station Road is on a
10-day business trip to Savannah, Ga., for
Grumman Aircraft Inc.
Mrs. Julia Wallace of Bellport Lane
spent the weekend in Bethesda, Md., with
her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs.
Crosby N. Boyd Jr., and family. She attended
the baptismal ceremony for her granddaughter,
Barbara Ann, on Sunday.
Mayor and Mrs. Harry F. Bedell spent
the weekend in New York City. Friday
evening they attended the Bavarian Symphony
Orchestra of Munich at Carnegie
Hall and on Saturday the performance
of “Rigoletto” at the Metropolitan Opera House.
Douglas Bumstead, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Harvey Bumstead of Blue Point Avenue,
Blue Point, a student in his first year at the
New York Institute of Technology, spent
the weekend at home with his family.
Patricia D. Connelly, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. James Connelly of Weeks Street,
was the guest of honor at a surprise bridal
shower given by Miss Carol Ann Jurgens
of Blue Point Avenue. A buffet was served for 25 guests.
Army First Lieutenant John C. Haag of
Medford was promoted to his present rank
in Okinawa, where he is serving with the
398th Quartermaster Company.
Mrs. Carol Lucia, wife of George Lucia
of Jamaica Avenue, Medford, celebrated
her birthday Oct. 17. All her family was on
hand to enjoy the occasion.
It was a great day for Mr. and Mrs. Peter
La Corte, who were married Saturday in
St. John’s R.C. Church, Center Moriches.
They are spending two weeks in Florida.
Mrs. La Corte, the former Miss Joyce M.
Potokin of Mastic, is employed in the
Patchogue High School system. Mr. La
Corte is the proprietor of La Corte Poultry Farms, Moriches.
