The Price-Rite Furniture Store on Montauk
Highway in Blue Point was consumed
by fire early Sunday morning. The fire produced
heavy smoke and intense heat, which
hampered volunteer firemen from three
departments who took part in the battle
against the flames. Portions of the roof collapsed
when flames ate away at the upper
parts of the structure, which was declared a complete loss.
In recognition of their outstanding community
service, the Pilot Club of Patchogue
presented savings bonds to two local high
school seniors at the club’s annual Awards
Night recently: Miss Jo Ann Meo of Patchogue
High School and Miss Patricia Brewer
of Seton Hall High School.
Pfc. Cashimere R. Marsh Jr., son of Mr.
and Mrs. Cashimere R. Marsh of Hill Street,
Patchogue and whose wife is the former
Miss Clair Miller of Patchogue, is serving
with the armed forces in Vietnam. He was
formerly employed by Bianco Motors in Sayville.
Miss Patricia Mottola, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Patsy Mottola of River Avenue,
received her Bachelor of Arts degree in
elementary education, magna cum laude, at
Dowling College on Sunday. Miss Mottola
plans to teach at the Cherokee School in
Ronkonkoma in the fall.
Nilda Torres, 17, of Davidson Avenue,
Patchogue, was named Queen of the Spanish
Society of Suffolk County. She will reign
at the eighth annual coronation of the society,
being held at St. John’s Cultural Center, Saturday.
The wedding day of Mr. and Mrs. David
Joseph Nolan took place Saturday, with
the marriage ceremony performed at 12
noon in St. Francis de Sales R.C. Church,
Patchogue. Both Mr. Nolan and his bride,
the former Miss Joan Engelschjon of Patchogue,
are in the teaching profession, Mr.
Nolan on the faculty of Suffolk Community
College, Selden, and Mrs. Nolan in the Patchogue-
Medford School system.
Philip C. Liguori Jr., son of Mr. and
Mrs. Philip Liguori of Washington Avenue,
received a BBA from Dowling College. A former
graduate of Patchogue High School, he
also holds an associate’s degree in applied
science from Suffolk Community College.
Specialized instruction has been given
Army Private Paul J. Tabone of Patchogue
in small unit tactics and weapons firing
during eight weeks of advanced infantry
training at Fort Jackson, S.C.
Heidi Auer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Auer of Munsell Road, East Patchogue,
has been awarded a year’s scholarship from
Patricia Wakim’s School of Dance, Brookhaven.
The award was presented at the fourth
annual recital, May 28 at the Barton Avenue School.
Trophies have been awarded by Cub Pack
128, East Patchogue, to the boys selling the
most light bulbs, who were John Lovell, first
place; Philip Hawkins, second, and George Burge, third.
John H. Vineyard, son of Mr. and Mrs.
George H. Vineyard of South Brewster Lane,
Bellport, graduated Monday with a Bachelor
of Arts degree from Oberlin College, Oberlin,
Ohio. Majoring in English, he has be
on the Dean’s List for all of his four years of
study at Oberlin. Mr. Vineyard was editor of
the Plum Creek Review, a student magazine.
Michael Barry, home from Cornell University,
is visiting his parents, Dr. and Mrs.
Francis Barry of South Country Road, for
the week, before leaving for a summer job
upstate. Also home from Cornell are John
Ebersole, Mark Wiener and Mark Stewart.
Mr. and Mrs. William Honce of Blue Point
Avenue, Blue Point, entertained over 60
relatives and friends at the annual Memorial
Day picnic at Corey Beach last Friday.
Claudia Dubowski, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Stanislaus Dubowski of Bergen Lane,
entertained eight of her friends at a box
lunch picnic at her home last Saturday.
The Miss Congeniality Award in the Miss
Yankton College pageant May 3 was presented
to Mary Ellen O’Came, a freshman
from Medford. She also was the runner-up
in the queen contest. Mary Ellen is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond O’Came
of Oregon Avenue, Medford. She is a physical
education major and was on the Honors
List for the first semester at the South Dakota college.

today on an 11-week tour of
Europe. A recent graduate of
Skidmore College, Saratoga
Springs, N.Y., she will, on her
return, begin graduate studies at
Duke University, Durham, N.C.
Joseph Anthony Paparelli
Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph
Paparelli of Pine Lake Drive,
has received a B.S. degree in
business from Oklahoma City
University. He is a graduate of
Patchogue High School.
A third floor is being added to
the Wedgewood Building on the
north side of West Main Street,
west of the Four Corners, part
of the growth pattern of the Village of Patchogue.
The marriage ceremony of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Andrew Hansen
took place Saturday at Our
Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church,
Patchogue. Since Mr. Hansen,
following his graduation this
June from Polytechnic Institute
in Troy, will be employed in St.
Louis, Mo., he and his bride,
the former Miss Marian Elizabeth
Bodkin of Patchogue, will
live there. Mrs. Hansen will be
attending the University of St. Louis.
In Thailand is Airman 1/c
Richard P. Turner of Patchogue,
an administrative specialist at
Nakhon Phanum Royal Thai AFB.
Two ex-Patchogue High

23 competitors on the Yankton
College team that qualified for
letters during the 1969 season.

Keith Rose is visiting his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Rose
of Gerard Street, for a few days
after returning from a trip to
Europe. Among places visited
in Scotland was the ancestral
home of his clan, the Roses
at Kilravock Castle, where he
stayed for two days as the guest
of the chief. He is on his way
to Kansas City, Mo., where he
hopes to take up a position with
Hallmark Cards.

College at Oswego for
the summer months are Michael
Florio, Peter Clement and Miss Noel Daley.

And Mrs. Thomas J. Conlin of
Livingston Road, has graduated
from Fairfield University, Fairfield,
Conn., with a Bachelor of
Arts degree in economics. Col.
And Mrs. Conlin attended the
commencement exercises at the
university on Sunday.

Jefferson and the late Margaret
Jefferson of New Jersey Avenue,
was recently awarded the Master
of Social Work degree from
Adelphi University, Garden City.
Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Gillespie
of Brookhaven announce
the recent engagement of their
daughter, Shirley Ann, to Vincent
J. Costanzo Jr., son of Mr.
and Mrs. Vincent J. Costanzo of
East Patchogue. A July 19 wedding is planned.

Mrs. Ruth Goodale was the guest of honor
at a dinner-dance Monday at Felice’s of Patchogue.
She recently completed 41 years as a
member of the faculty in the Patchogue-Medford
School District and expects to retire officially
tomorrow. Most recently, Mrs. Goodale
was guidance counselor at South Ocean Avenue Middle School.
The piano students of Louise Orr are performing
in student recitals June 18 and 19
at Mrs. Orr’s home in Patchogue. Those
performing on June 18 are: Jane Woodwell,
Stacey Sanders, Jeanne Kitchens, Larry Hodkin,
Lori Silverman, Tim Peierls, Steven Sanders,
Diane Ether, Rebecca Kellogg, Keith

Mrs. Mathilde Praetorius of Center Street
has returned to her home, having completed

Abe Kleinman of Terry Road, a freshman at
Quinnipiac College, Conn., has been placed
on the Dean’s List for the spring semester.
She is majoring in sociology.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Natale of Patchogue
announce the engagement of their daughter,
Susan, to Alex Qualtere, son of Mrs. Theresa
Qualtere and the late Mr. Alexander Qualtere
of Patchogue. Both Miss Natale and Mr. Qualtere
graduated from Patchogue High School.
Miss Natale is employed by Grant City in
Patchogue and Mr. Qualtere is self-employed.
Miss Donna Greco, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Vernon Greco of Patchogue, will graduate
from the Mandl School for Medical and
Dental Assistants as a medical assistant, July
10 at the Garden City Hotel, Garden City. She
is a 1966 graduate of Patchogue High School.
Newly elected officers of the River Avenue
School PTA are: Mrs. Joseph Arabia,
president; Mrs. Joseph Tavano, first vice
president; Mrs. Angelo Limoggio, second vice
president; Mrs. Salvatore Mazzarelli, third
vice president; Mrs. Joseph Weeks, secretary;
James Leon, treasurer, and Mrs. Isaac Cole,
recording secretary. Mrs. Joseph Paduano,
former president, was presented the Jenkins
Memorial Award by Sam Siegel, a former
president himself, for services rendered to the association.
Mr. and Mrs. Pat A. Felice of Myrtle Lane,
East Patchogue, attended graduation ceremonies
of the Fashion Institute of Technology
held at Carnegie Hall in Manhattan
Monday, at which time their daughter,
Juanita Jane, received the degree of AAS
in fashion merchandising and buying. Mrs.
Charles Tedaldi and Miss Sharolyn Kotula
accompanied them to the ceremony. Miss
Felice has accepted a position with the firm
of Hartfield-Zodys in Manhattan.
Miss Laura Demarest of Bieselin Road,
Bellport, is employed for the summer months
at Grossinger’s near Liberty, N.Y.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Perino Sr., of Station
Road attended the golden wedding anniversary
celebration honoring Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Scherpeltz at Center Moriches on Sunday.
Mrs. Stanley Seltzer of Bieselin Road was
pleasantly surprised last week when Joseph
McDermott rang her doorbell and presented
her with her purse containing license, credit
cards and $20 in cash, before she even discovered
her loss. Joseph is to be commended
for his promptness and honesty in returning the lost article.
Facing their future life together are Dr.
and Mrs. Rodney Owens, who were married
June 7 in Mary Immaculate R.C. Church,
Bellport. A captain in the Air Force stationed
at Westhampton Beach, Dr. Owens and his
bride, the former Miss Margaret Ann Huck of
East Patchogue, will eventually live in Florida,
where the doctor will practice dentistry
after his term of service.
Cub Scout Pack 49, Blue Point, held its
annual Cubmobile Derby last Sunday. Racing
against the clock, the eventual winners were
Scott Cargill, first place; Edward Deininger,
second place, and William Drake, third place.
Mr. and Mrs. James Flaherty of Division
Avenue spent last Sunday in Sag Harbor
enjoying the Whaler’s Festival with their family.
Richard Fedelem, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Fedelem of Maple Street, Blue Point,
has been awarded the degree of Bachelor of
Architecture from the School of Architecture,
College of Fine and Professional Arts
at Kent State University, Kent, Ohio, having
completed a five-year course of study. He
is a member of the American Institute of Architecture.
