Jeffrey M. Juzwiak, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Frank A. Juzwiak of Monroe Avenue,
is among 606 freshmen who will enter
Colgate University this fall. Mr. Juzwiak,
a Patchogue High School graduate, will
arrive on the campus in Hamilton, Sunday,
for four days of orientation before
the start of classes.
John C. Pryor of Wood Avenue was
awarded the Master of Education degree
at summer commencement exercises Aug.
21 at Abilene Christian College, Abilene,
Texas. Mr. Pryor majored in guidance
service.
The wedding ceremony of Mr. and Mrs.
Marvin Mark Goldstein took place Aug.
3 in the Hempstead Jewish Center. They
will make their home in Champaign, Ill.,
where the bride, the former Miss Linda
Ann Sinkoff of Patchogue, will teach in
the local school system. The bridegroom,
a graduate of Boston School of Law, will
be attending the University of Illinois
School of Labor and Industrial Relations.
Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Arne of Harris
Street announce the engagement of their
daughter, Maria, to Albert Potter, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Potter of Washington
Avenue, Patchogue. Miss Arne is a graduate
of Patchogue High School, class of
1969, and is employed at the Industrial
Home for the Blind in Patchogue. Mr. Potter
graduated from Edison High School,
class of 1964, in Queens. He is employed
as an interior designer in New York. No
date has been set for the wedding.
Miss Alison Rand, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Al Rand of Munsell Road, left this
week for the University of Miami, Fla.,
where she will do graduate work in ornithology.
Mr. and Mrs. John Binnington and son,
John, of Bellport, have moved to the
Alfred Nelson’s home in Brookhaven. The
Nelsons left this week for a 10-month
stay in Europe. The Binnington’s house
on Browns Lane has been sold to Mr. and
Mrs. Brian Buck and their six children,
who moved here from Middle Island. Mr.
Buck is a co-pilot with TWA.
Friday, Malcolm Johnson of Country
Club Road drove to Braintree, Mass., to
attend the Bare-Bow Archery Tournament,
which was held over the Labor Day
weekend.
Jerry K. Dominy of Woodland Park
Road returned Sunday from two weeks of
sport fishing at Great Bear Lake and the
Tree River, in the Arctic region of Northwest
Territory, Canada.
CW2 Jay Ince is home on a two-weeks’
leave from Fort Rucker, Ala., and is visiting
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ince of
Browns Lane.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Tooker and daughter,
Debra, of Newey Lane, Brookhaven,
have just returned from touring Maine
and other New England states for the
past week.
The Brookhaven Fire Department
Drum Corps, the Havenaires, participated
last Thursday evening in the Bellport
Shorts Parade and received a trophy for
their outstanding performance.
Mr. and Mrs. Michael McKeown and
children, Kathy, Chris, Kim and Carol
Ann, of Mott Lane, have just returned
from camping at Watch Hill Campground
on Fire Island. The McKeown family
returned on Friday so that Kathy could
race their sunfish and Kim could crew in
the race.
Mr. and Mrs. John Bianco and children,
Wade, Nancy and Janet, of Corey Avenue,
Blue Point, visited Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Zino of Ellenville over the Labor Day
weekend.
Kathy Morley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Morley of Corey Avenue, gave a
back-to-school luncheon for her friends
and her sister, Maureen, Friday at he
home.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Janhke of Division
Avenue and Mr. and Mrs. William Webster
of Hillside Avenue were the guests of Mr.
and Mrs. John Considine of Pheasant Way
at a clambake Monday.
Anthony Pedatella, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Warren C. Pedatella of Medford, has just
returned home after a year’s tour of duty
in Vietnam.
Mr. and Mrs. James DiCarlo of Alcolade
Drive West, Shirley, were the recipients
of Home of the Year honors Saturday at
the Chamber of Commerce of the Mastics’
first annual award ceremonies, held at
the Brookhaven Manor. The new DiCarlo
home is described as “a beautiful addition
to the community.”

Dion R. Ehrlich, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Bernard Ehrlich of Shore Drive, Patchogue,
is one of 115 freshmen entering the George
Washington University School of Medicine
this fall. Mr. Ehrlich, who lives on 22nd
Street in Washington, D.C., is a B.A. degree
graduate of Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, Pa.
A symbol of their golden wedding anniversary
was a three-tiered cake presented
to Mr. and Mrs. John Rocco of Wood
Avenue, at a surprise party held Sept. 6 at
the Elks Club, Patchogue, with 110 guests
attending. Their son and daughter-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Rocco, and Miss Mary
McWilliams, all of Patchogue, were the
hosts. The couple has two grandchildren, Trudy and John.
David Charles Terry celebrated his first
birthday Sept. 4 with a party for relatives
and friends at the home of his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Terry of Waverly Avenue.
Miss Patricia Corley, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. William Corley of Potter Street,
arrived recently in Athens, W. Va., where
she is entering her freshman year at Concord
College. She will major in physical education.
Wedded in the Congregational Church
of Patchogue Sept. 6, Mr. and Mrs. Michael
Lynn Hammer received their guests at
Felice’s of Patchogue after the ceremony.
The bride, the former Miss Karen Marie
Lysak of Patchogue, is a stewardess for
United Airlines. The bridegroom is with the
U.S. Government. The couple will live in Fairfax, Va.
Mr. and Mrs. Lazzer Peterson of Clark
Street, North Patchogue, announce the
engagement of their daughter, Patricia Gail,
to John W. Ross of Hartford, Conn. Mr.
Ross is the son of Mrs. Florence Ross of
Glens Falls, N.Y., and the late Mr. Ross. A
November wedding is planned.
Miss Linda Love of Bellport Lane, Bellport,
was guest of honor at a bridal shower
for 40 guests at the home of the Binningtons
on Beaver Dam Road, on Saturday
afternoon. Co-hostesses were Mesdames
Binnington, Michael Rice, Malcolm Fleming
and William Larson. Miss Love will be married
to Gene Reil Sept. 20.
Dr. and Mrs. Daniel Koshland of Lafayette,
Calif., were overnight guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Donald Streit of Browns Lane last
Thursday. They gave a dinner party for a
number of old friends at the Streit home
that night. Dr. Koshland was in New York to
appear on the Huntley-Brinkley newscast Friday.

are Mark Wiener, Michele Stoupe and John Ebersole.
Miss Myra Gelband and Reid Terwilliger
have resumed studies at the University of Rochester.
Ellen Hawkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
George Hawkins of Circuit Road, celebrated
her 9th birthday with a few of her friends
and relatives Monday.
Miss Katherine Gould, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Gould of South Howells
Point Road, has taken an apartment in New
York City. She is working as a claims adjustor
for the Scientific American magazine.
Dr. and Mrs. R. Ronald Rau of Bellport
announce the engagement of their daughter,
Whitney Leslie, to Jack Bergman, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Michael Bergman of Chicago,
Ill. Miss Rau is a graduate of Bellport High
School and a junior at Julliard School of
Music, New York City. Mr. Bergman is a
junior at Columbia College, Columbia University
in New York City. A June wedding is planned.
Three members of the Stahl family of
Arthur Avenue, Blue Point, have left for college:
John for Hamilton College, where he
is a junior; Connie, Keuka College for her
sophomore year, and Michael, Salem College
in West Virginia for his freshman year.
Donna Marie Witmann of Blue Point has
enlisted in the Navy’s WAVES and is undergoing
recruit training at the Naval Training
Center, Bainbridge, Md.
Training in the supply field is the new
assignment of Airman Gloria J. McLaughlin
of Shirley at Lowry AFB, Colo. She has
completed basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas.

The Generation Gap was the name of the
swinging combo that provided entertainment
at the Patchogue Chamber of Commerce
“Welcome to New Teachers” night
held last Thursday at Felice’s. The group
consists of: Ben Tabatchnik, principal of
the Medford Avenue School, on base violin;
Mario Shortino, former president of the
Patchogue Classroom Teachers Association,
on drums; Alfred J. Chiuchiolo, president
of the Patchogue-Medford School
Board, on clarinet; Robert Hildreth, principal
of the River Avenue School, on coronet;
Joseph Vocht, bilingual instructor,
on electric guitar, and Stanley Salsberg,
president of the Patchogue Federation of
Teachers, on piano.
Patchogue High School senior Alan
Hastings received congratulations from
high school principal Frank A. Juzwiak,
after it was announced that Alan had been
chosen as a semifinalist for a National
Merit Scholarship. He is one of only 15,000
high school seniors in the country to win
the nationally coveted award.
The Junior High Fellowship of the Congregational
Church, consisting of seventh
and eighth-graders, will begin their monthly
meetings with a pizza supper tomorrow
in the church dining room. The organization’s
new leaders are Ken and Carol Kellerman.
Promotion to his present rank was
awarded Marine Corporal James J. Siebolt
of Patchogue, while serving in Vietnam
with the First Marine Aircraft Wing.
Master Thomas Neumann, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Richard Neumann of Munsell
Road, East Patchogue, celebrated his 6th
birthday Sept. 15 at a party held in Mrs.
Basford’s first-grade class in the Kreamer Street School.
Miss Barbara Avery, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Humphrey Avery of South Country
Road, East Patchogue, has returned to
Penn Hall College, Chambersburg, Pa., to
begin her sophomore year.
Ready to greet their wedding guests
were Mr. and Mrs. Samuel A. Chambers,
who were married Sunday in St. Joseph the
Worker R.C. Church, East Patchogue. The
reception was held at the Middle Island
Country Club and they are spending two
weeks in the Poconos. The bridegroom,
who is attending Dowling College, Oakdale,
will live with his bride, the former
Miss Alice Lynn Emma of East Patchogue, in Bellport.
James M. Lomonosoff, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Boris Lomonosoff of Academy Lane,
Bellport, left for Colgate University, Hamilton,
to begin his freshman year.
Monday, Marianne Dominy celebrated
her 15th birthday with relatives and
friends. Her family and friends also helped
her celebrate her birthday at a gathering at
the beach on Sunday. She is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. W. Tyson Dominy of New
Jersey Avenue.
Miss Margaret Ell, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. John Ell, celebrated her 8th birthday
Sept. 8 with some of her classmates from
St. Joseph the Worker School. A supper
party was enjoyed.
Dean McChesney, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Harvey McChesney Jr., of Bellport Lane,
is leaving this week to enter Vernon Court
Junior College, Newport, R.I. Mr. and Mrs.
McChesney entertained at a brunch for
Miss Linda Love and Gene Reil and members
of the wedding party on Saturday morning.

Point Road with a cocktail party in celebration
of their 45th wedding anniversary
Sunday afternoon at the McChesney home,
with over 100 in attendance.
Jon David Rant, son of Mr. and Mrs.
John Rant of South Country Road, left this
week for his freshman year at Stanford
University in Palo Alto, Calif. Back at Idaho
State University at Pocatello, Idaho, for
his sophomore year is Peter Rant.
The Bellport Fire Department is the
possessor of a new hose truck, which will
hold 5,500 feet of hose. Fire chief W. Tyson
Dominy remarked that it had its first workout
at a drill on Monday night.
A dual birthday party was held on Aug. 6
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hassel
of Carman Boulevard, Brookhaven, in celebration
of their son Bryon’s first birthday
and the birthday of his grandfather, Worth
Austin of Bellport. Twenty friends and
relatives were present to share a barbecue dinner.
Nick Gallipoli of Division Avenue, Blue
Point, has returned from a month’s visit
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Angelo Gallipoli,
and his brothers, Vincent and Alex,
in Bari, Italy. It is Mr. Gallipoli’s first visit
to Italy in nine years.
Janet Beebe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Bernard Beebe of Kennedy Avenue, has
returned for her sophomore year at the
State University College at Cortland.
