Capt. John T. Tuthill was honored Monday
evening at South Side Lodge, F & AM, when
he was presented with the 50-year gold pin
by past Master Lincoln G. Schmidt on behalf
of the lodge. Otto F. Brauner is the present
Master of the Lodge.
Calling at the home of their son, David, the
evening of Oct. 17, Mr. and Mrs. William C.
Jenkins of Rider Avenue found themselves
unexpectedly guests of honor at a surprise
party that led to a celebration at the Lamplighter,
Sayville, honoring their approaching
35th wedding anniversary. The party was the
gift of their children. At the Lamplighter, the
presence of many friends at adjoining tables
made the evening especially enjoyable.
Mrs. Marie Christopher of Uniontown, Pa.,
has been visiting at the home of her daughter-
in-law, Mrs. Sheila J. Christopher and
granddaughter, Lisa Marie, of Cedar Avenue.
Seabee in Vietnam is Builder 1/c Ralph A.
Tucci of Patchogue, serving with the Naval
Construction Battalion 7, building facilities
for the fighting forces but trained to become
defenders against occasional enemy sniper fire.
Happy couple is Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Edvin, who were married Oct. 5 in Emanuel
Lutheran Church, Patchogue. Mr. Edvin
and his bride, the former Miss Carolyn Jane
Gunstone of Canaan Lake, are residing in Patchogue.
Mr. and Mrs. Vincent J. Bambola of Lake
Ronkonkoma have announced the engagement
of their daughter, Maryann, to Ronald
Michael Krawczyk. He is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Stanley Krawczyk of Patchogue.
The future bride attends Dowling College,
Oakdale, where she is under the elementary
education program. Her fiancé is majoring in
business administration at Hofstra University, Hempstead.
The Patchogue Recreation Department
sponsored its first annual Downhill Derby
last Saturday on the Rider Avenue Park hill.

Mr. and Mrs. William Varney of Hedges
Avenue, East Patchogue, announce the
engagement of their daughter, Donna Maria,
to Christopher Hockreiter, son of Mrs. Doris
Hockreiter and the late Mr. Hockreiter of
Copiague. Miss Varney is a graduate of Seton
Hall High School, New York State Agricultural
and Technical College at Farmingdale,
and Delta Airlines Stewardess Training. Mr.
Hockreiter is a graduate of Copiague High
School and Christian Brothers University,
Tenn. No date has been set for the wedding.
Friday, Katherine, Elizabeth and Thomas
Chrien each invited three of their friends
to a Halloween party at the home of their
parents, Dr. and Mrs. Robert Chrien of South
Country Road, Bellport. After trick or treating,
they had supper and played games. The
guests were Melissa Morabito, Kristen Dahl,
Nancy Greene, Wendy Jacoby, Kathy Mayman,
Mary Barbero, Charles Remsberg, and
David and Douglas Wasson.
Mr. and Mrs. Michael Farley and children,
Kelly Anne and Michael, recently moved
from North Babylon to South Country Road.
Mr. Farley works for the Long Island Rail Road.
Maryanne Reilly, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
James Reilly of Livingston Road, celebrated
her 10th birthday last week with a slumber
party for several of her friends.
Mesdames Calvin Demarest, Constance
Bohn, Frederick Mohlmann, Earl Kaller and
Jack Zyerveld met for a luncheon at Three
Village Inn, Stony Brook, Saturday. They are
all New Paltz alumni.
Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hamlyn Jr., and family
moved this week to Orlando, Fla., where
they have bought a Carvel franchise. They
have sold their house on Station Road to Mr.
and Mrs. Richard Chandler.
Kathy Warnken, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
George Warnken of Madison Street, Blue
Point, gave a combination pajama and birthday
party Monday night at the home of her
parents, for her friends Nancy Bianco, Mary
Ann Wagner, Carol Truppi, Elaine Zimmer,
Barbara Quinn and Anne Worthington.

Patchogue started at 10:45 a.m., with the
invocation and Pledge of Allegiance, followed
by the Oregon Avenue School band,
under the direction of Glen Brown, which
played a selection. Master Sergeant Fred M.
Lang, U.S. Army retired, massed the colors
and gave all commands for the colors. Present
also were the Rev. Harry B. Sherman, St.
Paul’s Episcopal Church, Patchogue, and
the Rev. Mortimer Gleason, St. Francis de
Sales R.C. Church, Patchogue.
Andrew Medvin, son of Dr. and Mrs. Sydney
Medvin of Monroe Avenue, as a member
of the Ripon College Band, Ripon, Wis.,
participated Nov. 1 and 2 in the Parents’
Day concert at the college. Mr. Medvin is a
senior majoring in biology.
Sharing a happy moment were Mr. and
Mrs. Richard Rupolo after their marriage
Sunday in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C.
Church, Patchogue. Mr. Rupolo and his
bride, the former Miss Evelyn Federkiel
of Patchogue, are spending a week in the
Virgin Islands. Their future home is in Patchogue.
Louis A. Pfeifle of Blue Point and Joseph
Paparelli of Patchogue have been named
advanced gifts chairman and industrial gifts
division chairman, respectively, in the current
$800,000 Brookhaven Memorial Hospital
expansion fund drive.
Promotion to his present rank has been
earned by Sergeant Richard P. Turner of
Patchogue. He is an administrative specialist
at Nakhon Phanum Royal Thai AFB,
Thailand, with the 56th Avionics Maintenance
Squadron Unit of the Pacific Air Force.
Stateliness and beauty against a lovely
setting marked the wedding pose of Mr.
and Mrs. Nicholas DePalo, whose ceremony
had just been performed Oct. 11 in
St. Joseph the Worker R.C. Church, East
Patchogue. The former Miss Michele DeVito,
Mrs. DePalo is a legal secretary in the
Suffolk County district attorney’s office. Mr.
DePalo is an associate engineer with the
Long Island Rail Road.
Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Strier of Orchard
Road, East Patchogue, have received notification
from State University College
of Potsdam, N.Y., that the name of their
daughter, Barbara, has been entered on the
President’s Honor List of the spring semester 1968-69.
Miss Jerry Jones of Amityville is spending
the week with Miss Cynthia Robinson of
Bell Street, Bellport.
Teddy Hermus, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Francis Hermus of North Brewster Lane,
returned home Friday night after spending
four days in Brookhaven Memorial Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Chester Arthur Jr., of Bell
Street, celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary
last Wednesday night with their family.
The Bellport Men’s Fellowship held their
annual Turkey Shoot Sunday afternoon at
the beach at the end of South Howells
Point Road. The winners of turkeys were
Bill Greenhill, Larry Schiro, Al Panarelli and Frank Perry.
New residents of Bellport are Mr. and
Mrs. Michael Coligny and their son, Edward,
who moved from Patchogue to Bell Street this week.
First steps in the training of a Marine
have been completed by Private 1/c Richard
G. Ringgold of Bellport. He spent his first
12 weeks of recruit training at Parris Island,
S.C., followed by infantry combat training
at Camp LeJeune, N.C.
Last Thursday Carol Stong, Barbara Girtman,
Linda Davis, Belvine Sheffey, Dorothy
DeGregorio, Charita Washington, Victoria
Walker and Christine King received their
Girl Scout pins at a ceremony held in Hampton
Avenue School and were welcomed into
Girl Scout Troop 1362. The troop is led by
Miss Dorothy Murray and Miss Dorothy Braunstein.
Miss Lynne Call of Old Stump Road,
Brookhaven, recently returned from spending
the weekend in Ithaca, N.Y.
Dominick Donato, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Donato of Dogwood Road, Mastic
Beach, is a member of the 1969 Hofstra University
freshman football team. He is a 1969
graduate of William Floyd High School,
where he played for coach Bob Zigrossi. He
is a business major. Donato is a defensive back on the team.

Two Patchogue residents are cast in the
upcoming Sayville Musical Workshop production
of “Oliver,” to be staged at the Sayville
High School the first two weekends in
December. Mary Soyer plays the dual role
of Charlotte and Old Sally. Charles Payntar
is cast as the undertaker’s assistant.
Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Rowland are the
proprietors of the new Rowland’s Deli at
87 Avery Avenue. One of the oldest stores
of its kind in Patchogue, the store was
formerly operated for years by the Gluth
family, but had been closed for some time.
Mr. and Mrs. Rowland operated the Selden
Farm Stand the last two summers.
Bruce Texeira, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Alfred Texeira of Walnut Avenue, has been
chosen “Mr. Sigma Theta Chi” by the Sigma
Theta Chi Sorority of Shenandoah College
and Shenandoah Conservatory of Music,
Winchester, Va. He is a sophomore majoring
in clarinet. At home he is a member
of the North Patchogue Volunteer Fire Department.
Eric A. Sackstein of East Roe Boulevard
is one of 17,700 students enrolled for the
fall semester at Memphis State University, Memphis, Tenn.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Muller of Oakdale
announce the engagement of their daughter,
Linda, to Robert Lysak, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Raymond Lysak of Patchogue. Miss
Muller is a graduate of Connetquot High
School and is employed by the W.T. Grant
Company. Mr. Lysak, a graduate of Patchogue
High School, is with the New York
Telephone Company. No date has been set for the wedding.
The Patchogue Fishing Club won the
New York State Parks Commission Casting
Tourney at Jones Beach recently. The
winner’s trophy was presented to George
Dietz, a member of the club’s casting team.
Other members attending the ceremony
were: Thomas Kehlenbeck, the club’s
president, and Mrs. Kehlenbeck; Robert
Ostrom; Mr. and Mrs. James Belmonte Jr.,
and James Belmonte Sr., the casting team’s
captain. The club’s winning score was 209
points. The Patchogue Club has also won
tournaments in Bear Mountain, Mount Vernon and Staten Island.
Basics have been completed by Airman
Robert A. Gearity of Patchogue at Lackland
AFB, Texas. He will go for training
in munitions and weapons maintenance to
Lowry AFB, Colo.
Lynn Stonebridge, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Donald Stonebridge of General
McLean Drive, Bellport, celebrated her 7th
birthday with a party for several friends
Saturday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarke Williams of South
Country Road returned home Monday
from a four-day trip to Williamstown,
Mass. They attended the Williams-Amherst
football game on Saturday.
Junior Girl Scout Troop 1362 installed
patrol leaders Vernetta Eleazer, Melissa
Morabito and Christine Burwell at their
weekly meeting last Thursday afternoon.
The Folklore Badge was awarded to Vernetta
Eleazer and the My Community
Badge was awarded to Patricia Eleazer.
Peter Hafemeister, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Ralph Hafemeister of Atlantic Avenue,
Blue Point, celebrated his 3rd birthday on
Saturday with a family party.
Twelve couples attended the Mr. and
Mrs. Club meeting held at Our Lady of the
Snow Church last Friday evening. Robert
Bowers and Walter Brown were elected
co-chairmen of the club, Mrs. Robert Otten,
secretary, and Hank Bates, treasurer.
Janet Schnabel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Paul Schnabel of Middle Island Avenue,
Medford, celebrated her birthday Nov. 1
with a party for her friends from the Tremont Avenue School.

Oct. 18 in St. Sylvester’s R.C. Church,
Medford. The bridegroom, a veteran of the
Navy, is employed by Airesearch Aviation
Company in Ronkonkoma. The bride, the
former Miss Helen Marie Tully of Medford,
is employed by the Sachem School District.

Saturday night at the Suffolk Boat
Club in Patchogue, Mr. and Mrs. George
Bogenrieder of Rosalie Place were joined
by family and friends in the celebration
of their 50th wedding anniversary. Mrs.
Bogenrieder is the former Miss Tillie Kurrass,
a lifelong resident of Patchogue.
Miss Cheryl Habel, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert C. Habel of Washington
Avenue, has received recognition for outstanding
academic achievement by being
named to the Dean’s List at Russell Sage
College, Troy, N.Y., where she is a junior
majoring in social science elementary education.
The McDowell Family of Patchogue is
holding their Thanksgiving Day reunion
this year at Wolfgang’s on South Ocean
Avenue. Of the 52 members expected to
be present, one will come from as far off
as Virginia and another from Ithaca, N.Y.
Miss Linda Milian, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Walter Milian of Sheldon Avenue,
has been selected for membership in the
Women’s Glee Club of State University
College at Oneonta, N.Y. Miss Milian, a
junior at the college, will be singing in
the alto section of the club in an all-Bach
program Dec. 7.
Mr. and Mrs. George W. Ehmann were
married in October in St. Francis de Sales
R.C. Church, Patchogue. The bride is the
former Miss Teresa M. Friedel of Patchogue.
Their home is in Blue Point.
A commission as second lieutenant in
the Air Force has been given William L.
Johnson of Patchogue, upon his graduation
from Officer Training School at Lackland AFB, Texas.
The caretaker at the Bellport Village
Golf Club reported to police that some
person or persons unknown had ridden
horses on three of the greens and caused
about $200 damage. Joseph Satornino,
the caretaker, said the damage must have
occurred about 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the
club course on South Country Road in
Bellport. He said greens 11, 16 and 17 had
been torn up.
Thanksgiving guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Hoffman of Bellport Lane are Mr.
and Mrs. Andrew Yonis of Maplewood,
N.J. and Miss Lillian Hertlein of Lake
Ronkonkoma, and the Hoffman’s son and
daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Carl L. Hoffman of Rye.
Kathleen Dominy celebrated her 12th
birthday with a family dinner party given
by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Tyson
Dominy of New Jersey Avenue, on Nov.
18. Later she entertained a few of her friends.
Connie Stahl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
G.J. Stahl of Arthur Avenue, Blue Point, is
spending her Keuka College sophomore
field period in San Juan, Puerto Rico,
working with the Head Start program.
Specialist 4 and Mrs. Joseph La Ferla,
son-in-law and daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Eugene McKenna of Park Avenue, left
Monday for Hawaii, where Sp. La Ferla
will be stationed for the next 18 months.
Peggy Rose, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Richard A. Rose of Park Avenue, entertained
her friends at a pajama party last Friday night.
Jill Ockers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Cornelius W. Ockers of Bowne Avenue,
arrived home Sunday from the State University
at Fredonia to spend Thanksgiving
with her family.
A Marine, Private Richard E. Pitts of
Blue Point, has completed both recruit
training at Parris Island, S.C., and infantry
combat training at Camp LeJeune, N.C. He
will now attend school at San Diego, Calif.
