Miss Carol Ann Hartmann, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Michael G. Hartmann
of Roslyn Court, Patchogue, has been
accepted for study at the State University
of New York Agricultural and Technical
College, Cobleskill. She is majoring in
nursery education.
A promotion to his present rank was
given First Lieut. Frederick J. Magner,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Magner
of Highland Avenue, during formal
ceremonies at the Army’s Fitzsimons
General Hospital, Denver, Colo., July 23. A
dietary internist at the hospital, the young
nutritionist was pinned on the collar with
the silver bar denoting his new rank.
A going-into-service party was held
recently for Kenneth Paul Gathmann, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Gathmann, at the
home of his parents on Myrtle Lane, East
Patchogue, for approximately 80 friends
and relatives. Having enlisted for six years
with the U.S. Navy, Mr. Gathmann will
receive his basic training at San Diego,
Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. George Searles of Mt.
Vernon Avenue, Patchogue, announce
the engagement of their daughter, Joan,
to Alfred Senzamici Jr., son of Alfred
Senzamici of Vehslage Street, Patchogue.
Miss Searles, a 1970 graduate of Patchogue
High School, is employed by Attys. Bauer
and Rogers of Patchogue. Mr. Senzamici,
also a 1970 graduate of Patchogue High, is
in the Naval Reserves and is employed by
Dayton T. Brown of Bohemia. No date has
been set for the wedding.
Mrs. Francis Barry of South Country
Road, Bellport, returned Friday from a
week’s trip to Roanoke, Va., where she
visited her family. While there, a family
celebration was held in honor of her
sister’s 50th wedding anniversary and her
mother’s 93rd birthday.
Mrs. Laurence Paisley and family are
moving this week to Richford, N.Y., where
Mrs. Paisley will be teaching social studies
in the North High School, Binghamton.
She has sold her house on Thornhedge
Road to Mr. and Mrs. Eric Peters of
Patchogue.
George Eleazer, son of Mr. and Mrs.
George Eleazer of New Jersey Avenue,
left Sunday to spend a week with his uncle
and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. John Conquest of
Baltimore, Md., a week with Mr. and Mrs.
Isaac Cole of Rockville, Md., and a week
with the Blackstone family in Annapolis,
Md.
A surprise baby shower was given for
Mrs. Robert Perino of Bellhaven Road
Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs.
Harry Caldwell of Medford. About 45 guests
were present.
Mr. and Mrs. John Horndrup of Blue
Point announce the engagement of their
daughter, Jean Anne, to William G. Potabi,
son of Mrs. Loretta Potabi of Medford
and the late William A. Potabi. Miss
Horndrup is a physical education teacher
in the Sylvan Avenue School, Bayport.
Mr. Potabi is vice president and general
manager of L&S Electronics in Coram.
The wedding will take place Aug. 29 in
Emanuel Lutheran Church, Patchogue.

Joseph Pansini, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dominick
Pansini of West Main Street, Patchogue,
graduated in June from Albany
State University with a Bachelor of Science
degree, majoring in physics and biology.
He will continue his studies at New York
University in the field of dentistry.
Mark Weiner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Weiner of Campbell Street, is spending a
week’s vacation at his home before leaving
for Hawaii. He will be furthering his education
at the University of Honolulu.
Miss Marilyn Barbara Pallas, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Pallas of Everett
Street, has been accepted for study at the
State University of New York Agricultural
and Technical College, Cobleskill, N.Y. She
will major in food service administration
with a concentration on vocational food
service administration.
Celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary
are Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Gordon, who
held open house recently at their home
on Jayne Avenue for some 80 relatives and
friends. Special guests were former maid
of honor Mrs. Rose P. Pritchard of Babylon
and best man William A. Pasfield of Sayville.
Richard Zeidler of Whippoorwill Lane will
have a good fish story to tell these days. He
will talk about the big day he had while fishing
in Pete Curreri’s boat, For Pete’s Sake,
last Sunday, landing a 64-pound swordfish.
Mr. Zeidler caught the fish about 40 miles
southeast of Shinnecock Canal and it took
him 25 minutes to land the fish.
Lieut. Jeffrey Coon of Bellport returned
home last week from a year’s tour of duty
in Vietnam. He is spending a few weeks’
leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George
Coon of New Jersey Avenue, before reporting
for duty at Beaufort, S.C.
Mr. and Mrs. John Ramirez of Circuit Road
recently entertained at a family dinner party
in honor of their daughters, Karen, a
1970 graduate of Bellport High School, and
Jan, who received her AAS degree from
SUNY in Delhi, N.Y. Jan majored in hotel
management. Both girls will enter the business world.
Last Wednesday Mrs. Michael Gazzola of
East Patchogue and Mrs. Irving Coleman Jr. of
Bellport attended the sixth annual Antique
Show at Westhampton Beach after enjoying
lunch at the Wild Oak Restaurant.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Butler and children,
Sharon, Mary, Michael and Colleen, spent
two weeks camping at Shenango Valley
State Park. They returned home last Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. John Wallen and children of
South Howells Point Road spent several
days last week touring the Finger Lakes
area and visiting the Cornell campus,
where their daughter, Marilyn, enrolled for
her freshman year. |

Dominick Andrisani, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Andrisani of Terry Road, Patchogue,
graduated recently from Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute, Troy, N.Y., with a bachelor’s
degree in aeronautical engineering.
He is now in the employ of the Langley
Research Center at Hampton, Va., which is
part of the NASA program.
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Goll of Medford Avenue
are entertaining Mrs. Goll’s nephew
and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Ulrich of Trossingen,
Germany. The visitors expect to fly
home Aug. 24.
Miss Candyce M. Ingerman, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Max Ingerman of Howard
Street, has been named to the Dean’s List
for the spring semester at the University of
Bridgeport. Majoring in elementary education,
she will enter her junior year at the
university in the fall.
Miss Helen Danielle Coyle of Mark Avenue
has been placed on the Dean’s Honor List
for the winter semester at the University of
Missouri, Columbia, Mo.
Six local young women have been selected
to represent their high schools in the
1970-71 Abraham & Strauss Smith Haven
Teen Fashion Board: Miss Anne del Castillo of
Bellport, Seton Hall High School; Miss Linda
Silsbe of Patchogue High School; Miss Hallie
Frazer and Miss Cindy Smith of Bellport High
School; Miss Gayle Steinbach of Blue Point,
James Wilson Young High School, and Miss
Joan Degnan of Sayville High School. The
girls will serve on the board as models
and hostesses for the more than 60 events
scheduled to take place at the store’s teen
carnival Aug. 24-28, as well as in teen events
during the year, including excursions to
New York City and monthly in-store meetings
dealing with the fashion world.
A Navy ensign from Patchogue, John R.
Lombardi, was recently commissioned an
officer upon his graduation from Cornell
University. He will report to the Supply
Corps School, Athens, Ga., for active duty.
Mrs. Eugene Collins and family of Bellhaven
Road, Bellport, returned home from
Kingston last Thursday after a short visit
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Pardee, who celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.
Saturday night the Boris Lomonosoffs, Jack
Regalmutos and Robert Mahoneys enjoyed the
Tony Bennett show at Westbury Music Fair.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Cummings and
children, Mark and Laurie, attended Old
Timers Day at Yankee Stadium Saturday
afternoon and watched the Yankees-Orioles game.
