Michael Marsh Jr., son of Mr. and
Mrs. Michael Marsh of Roberts Street,
Patchogue, has been accepted at
Quinnipiac College, Hamden, Conn., for
the September semester. He is majoring
in medical technology.
Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Satornino of
Maple Avenue celebrated their 25th
wedding anniversary at a surprise party
given for them at their home by Mrs.
Satornino’s sister, Miss Mary Mascola
of Maple Avenue. Forty relatives and
friends were present to greet Mr. and
Mrs. Satornino, who have just returned
from a vacation trip to Florida.
Miss Jean Ann Wagner, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wagner of Walnut
Avenue, a student at Ithaca College,
N.Y., is currently performing with the
college’s Jazz Lab Band, which holds two
major concerts each year. Miss Wagner,
a senior majoring in musical education,
plays the flute.
Karen Lisa Farbstein, 11th-grade
student at Patchogue-Medford High
School, recently participated in an
Anchor Club leadership seminar
conducted at the national headquarters
of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge,
Pa. Miss Farbstein, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph Farbstein of Oxbow
Road, Patchogue, plans to enter Suffolk
Community College then Syracuse
University. She wants to become a doctor
or emergency room nurse.
A giant joint training exercise at
Fort Hood, Texas, has been completed.
Participating was Airman Steven
A. McCormick, son of Mrs. Muriel
McCormick of East Main Street,
Patchogue. He is an AF aircraft mechanic
with the 516th Tactical Airlift Wing at
Dyess AFB, Texas.
Roland P. Poirier, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Albert Poirier of Barton Avenue, has been
accepted for admission in September to
the State University Agricultural and
Technical College at Delhi, N.Y. He will
study in the Engineering Technologies Division.
Mrs. Ann Morrison Burchell of South
Country Road, East Patchogue, recently
celebrated her 94th birthday. She
received many cards and flowers to make
it a special day.
Kenneth Gathmann, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Ted Gathmann of Myrtle Lane,
East Patchogue, was advanced to data
processing technician third class, March
1. Kenneth is a graduate of Patchogue-
Medford High School, class of 1970. He
entered the Navy through the U.S. Navy
recruiting station, Patchogue, in July
1970. He is presently attached to Staff
Commander, Submarine Force Pacific, at
Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Rene Sr., of Maple
Avenue, Bellport, had Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Ahearn of Maple Avenue as their dinner
guests on Easter Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. George Seyfert of George
Court have returned home after a visit
with relatives in Reading, Pa.
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Miller of South
Country Road held an Easter Egg Hunt
Sunday morning for 20 children. The
children hunted for 157 eggs, which were
hidden in the woods. Coffee and buns
were served to the adults.
Special awards were given to those
Bellport High School varsity performers
that were either most valuable or most
outstanding in their respective sport
at the school’s 7th annual Fall-Winter
Sports Dinner last Tuesday. The most
valuable player award for basketball went
to Gary McLaurin and most outstanding
was presented to Bruce Williams, who
also received a plaque for being named to
an all-star team by the Long Island News
and another for receiving honorable
mention on Newsday’s all-county team.
Dancing the first dance at their wedding
reception were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph
Orlando, who were married March 18 at
Mary Immaculate R.C. Church, Bellport.
Following their reception at the Towne
House in Huntington, the couple spent
two weeks in Florida before making
their home in Ronkonkoma. The bride
is the former Miss Mary Ann Tarantino of Bellport.

Navy Seaman Recruit David L. Gagnon,
son of Mrs. Albertine Gagnon of West
Avenue, Patchogue, has graduated from
recruit training at the Naval Training
Center, Great Lakes, Ill.
Mrs. Edward Mitchell will entertain the
members of Patchogue Sorosis at their
meeting Wednesday in the Knights of
Columbus Hall. She will have on display
her collection of more than 100 cookie
cutters and will present numerous
cookie recipes and various ways in which
to decorate them.
Mrs. Vicki Hunter and her brother,
Frederick Grudzinski, have just returned
from a two-year stay in Florida and have
taken up residence on Robert Street,
Patchogue. In Florida they lived at first
in Fort Myers and, after buying a mobile
home, spent the rest of the time in New Port Richey.
Mr. and Mrs. John Cheripinsky of
Norton Street, Patchogue, announce
the engagement of their daughter, Linda
Susan, to Michael Patrick Hurley, son
of Raymond Hurley and the late Mrs.
Susan Hurley of Schoenfeld Boulevard,
Patchogue. A June wedding is planned.
Navy Airman Apprentice Joseph
A. Cavaliere Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Cavaliere of Taylor Avenue, East
Patchogue, has completed a course at the
Aviation Structural Mechanic School, Memphis, Tenn.
Spending the Easter weekend with Mr.
and Mrs. John Ince of Browns Lane,
Bellport, was her daughter, Mrs. Sherri
Meyer and her daughters, Jennifer and
Rachel, of Piscataway, N.J.
Mr. and Mrs. David Weinstein of
Bellport announce the engagement of
their daughter, Susan, to Thomas William
Brienza Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
William Brienza of East Patchogue. Miss
Weinstein and Mr. Brienza are both
graduates of Bellport High School, Class
of 1970. Miss Weinstein will graduate in
June from Suffolk County Community
College, Selden. Mr. Brienza is employed
as an electrician. No date has been set for the wedding.
Dancing together for the first time as
husband and wife were Mr. and Mrs.
James Salvatore Cacace at their wedding
reception at the 112 Lounge in Medford.
Their marriage took place on Dec. 5
in St. Joseph the Worker R.C. Church,
East Patchogue. After a honeymoon
in Bermuda, Mr. Cacace and his bride,
the former Miss Dorene Nudo of East
Patchogue, are residing in Eastport.
Gary Sohl has returned to American
University in Washington, D.C., after
spending his spring vacation with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sohl. He
was recently named to the Dean’s List.
On Monday Thomas H. Gordon Sr.,
of North Howells Point Road and his
daughter, Linda Jo of Jackson Heights,
left for Liverpool, England. Mr. Gordon
has not been back to Liverpool in 50
years. They are planning to visit with
relatives and friends while there.
Mr. and Mrs. Emory Egler of Bieselin
Road became the proud parents of a girl,
Jennifer Lee, on April 4. Jennifer Lee
was welcomed home from Brookhaven
Memorial Hospital by her sister, Tracy.
Happy birthday greetings to Thomas
and Frederick Rich of Bay Road,
Brookhaven. Thomas was 15 on March
29 and Frederick was 14 on April 3.
Both birthdays were celebrated with the family.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mistler of
Railroad Avenue, Medford, celebrated
their 16th wedding anniversary April 6.
The Mistlers have four children: Delores,
Cheryl, Robin and Robert.

Miss Valerie Kellers, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. John H. Kellers of Washington
Avenue, Patchogue, has been named to
the Dean’s List at C.W. Post Center, Long
Island University at Greenvale, N.Y. In
her sophomore year, she is attending
Kings Park Hospital School of Nursing.
Miss Mary-Ann Stuzenske, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Stuzenske of
Avery Avenue, has been elected as a
representative to the Student Honor
Court at the Albany Medical Center
School of Nursing. She is in her freshman year.
Ben Tabatchnik, principal of the River
Avenue School, was in Miami, Fla., the
week of April 8-13, as one of more than
6,000 principals attending the National
Association of Elementary School
Principals’ national convention.
Happily married are Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Nicholas Lupo after their
ceremony April 8 in Our Lady of Mt.
Carmel R.C. Church, Patchogue. The
bridegroom and his bride, the former
Miss Mary Ann DiNapoli of Patchogue,
will make their home in Hauppauge.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kremer of Elm
Street, East Patchogue, announce the
engagement of their daughter, Alberta, to
Charles Hussinatter, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Hussinatter of Patchogue Road,
Patchogue. Both Miss Kremer and Mr.
Hussinatter are graduates of Patchogue
High School. Miss Kremer is employed
at the DeBono Lampshade Factory in
Patchogue. Mr. Hussinatter works for the
Pepsi Cola Company in Patchogue. No
date has been set for the wedding.

Airman Salvatore F. Losicco, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Carmine Losicco of Waverly
Avenue, Patchogue, at the Air Training
Command’s Lackland AFB, Texas. He
will remain at Lackland for training in
the security police field.
Marine Warrant Officer Gary S. Kee,
whose wife is the former Miss Leslie
Boyle of Danes Street, Patchogue, has
been promoted to his present rank
while serving with the Marine Support
Battalion in the Philippines.
Driving along Bellport Avenue, Francis
Brame of Meade Avenue, Bellport, was
startled when his car suddenly caught
fire at Beaver Dam Road on Friday. The
Bellport Fire Department was called and
the fire was extinguished. The car was
towed to a garage.
Weekend houseguests of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Mullaney of South Howells
Point Road were Mr. and Mrs. Daniel J.
Donovan of Rockville Center.
Mrs. Grace Rene of Maple Avenue
entertained 19 of her friends at a
demonstration party Monday. Coffee and
cake were served after the demonstration.
Bellport’s baseball team shut out
Westhampton last Friday by a score of
7-0. Jim MacLeod was the hitting star
for Bellport, as he hit a three-run homer
in the seventh inning. The pitchers for
Bellport, John Maler and Dave DiDio, did
a superb job, allowing only two hits.
Linda Jensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Jensen of Fireplace Neck Road,
Brookhaven, has been accepted at William
and Mary College in Williamsburg, Va.
Linda is now a senior at Bellport High
School and would like to study marine biology.
Peter Kwiatkoski of Pine Street was
guest of honor at a party Saturday to
celebrate his 8th birthday. Present were
many of his friends: Jeff Jacobs, Stephen
Maddalena, Ben Peirls, Darin Darinziski,
Christopher LaClair, Peter Haffner, Henry
Peters and James Watson. The boys
enjoyed a treasure hunt, many games
and refreshments.

Twenty-nine years of perfect
attendance in the Patchogue Kiwanis
Club is the call for congratulations to Lou
Hodkin by club president Frank Scavelli
recently. Mr. Hodkin is a longtime
resident of the Patchogue area.
Robert Figueira, a senior sprinter from
Patchogue, was among eight C.W. Post
student-athletes chosen to appear in
the 1972 edition of Outstanding College
Athletes of America. Figueira is captain
of the 1972 outdoor track team.
In the Pacific, Navy Petty Officer 2/c
Steve A. Drozdowski of Sycamore Street,
Patchogue, is serving aboard the attack
aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk. The
ship, homeported in San Diego, Calif., is
operating in support of the U.S. and allied
troops in Southeast Asia.
Sergeant James Pew of the U.S. Air
Force, son of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Pew of
Circle Drive, east, has been named to the
Honor Roll at the Aerospace Education
Center at Pease AFB, established last
fall as a division of the New England
Aeronautical Institute in Nashua, N.H.
He is a member of one of the first classes
to be enrolled at the center.
Mr. and Mrs. Orville Meyer of Conklin
Avenue, Patchogue, announced the
engagement of their daughter, Linda,
on April 6, to William McGregor, son
of Mr. and Mrs. William McGregor of
Farmingville. Miss Meyer, currently
a retailing major at Suffolk County
Community College, Selden, expects to
graduate in June. Mr. McGregor is in his
junior year as a management major at
Hofstra University, Hempstead. No date
has been set for the wedding.
Defeating the same team two days
earlier, Patchogue’s varsity baseball
squad was victorious again last Friday
as the Raiders defeated West Babylon,
2-1. Patchogue scored its first run in the
second inning when Steve Aviano tripled
and Bruce Geier singled. Sophomore Al
Willet pitched no-hit ball through the first
six innings. They won the game in the
bottom half of the seventh. Bob Feindt
led off with a walk and Gary Costanzo
went in as a pinch runner. After stealing
second and going to third as the result
of a fielder’s choice, Costanzo ended up
scoring the winning run.
Technical Sergeant Arthur H. Gack,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Esser of
Conklin Avenue, Patchogue, whose wife,
Florence, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Miller of Barton Avenue, Patchogue,
has graduated from the Air Force Senior
Non-Commissioned Officer Academy at
Norton AFB, Calif., as a flight engineer.
He is being assigned to McGuire AFB, N.J.
Ann Quinn of Bellhaven Road, Bellport,
spent the Easter holidays in Madrid,
Spain, as a guest of the Frank Longs of
Colonial Lane, who are studying in Spain
for a year. Susan Long is a classmate of
Ann’s at Mercy High School, Riverhead.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth L.W. Rose of
Gerard Street, Bellport, have returned
from a 12-state automobile trip. They
visited relatives in Nashville, Tenn., and
then went on to Kansas City, Mo., to visit
their son, Keith, who is employed there.
Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Potter of
Rogers Avenue entertained a group of
relatives and friends at a party Saturday
in celebration of their 25th wedding anniversary.

Saturday in St. Joseph the Worker R.C.
Church was Michael Weldon, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Thomas Weldon of Colonial Lane.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Zavesky of
Circuit Road, Bellport, announce the
engagement of their daughter, Diane,
to James Murdock of Bay Shore. Miss
Zavesky and Mr. Murdock plan to be
married Aug. 27 at Mary Immaculate
R.C. Church, Bellport.
Basics have been completed by WAC
Private Lorraine Parker, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Charles L. Parker of Horseblock
Road, Brookhaven, at the Women’s Army
Corps Center, Fort McLellan, Ala. She
spent eight weeks receiving instruction
in Army history, and traditional
administrative procedure, military
justice, first aid and field training.
The $10 in book fines taken from the
Brookhaven Free Library last week has
been returned. It was tucked into an
envelope and placed in the book box,
along with an unsigned note that read,
“I’m sorry I stole this money.” Now, if
the missing big brass key to the front
door and the key to the book box were
returned, someone’s conscience would be clearer than ever.
