Navy Seaman Recruit Felice Iasevoli,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Francesco Iasevoli
of Norton Street, Patchogue, graduated
from recruit training at the Naval
Training Center at Great Lakes, Ill.
When the 12,000-ton ship Empire
State IV steamed into the port of
Barcelona, Spain, last Wednesday, 38
Suffolk County residents were aboard.
The ship is a training vessel of the
State University of New York at Fort
Schuyler, and the residents are cadets
at the school. Among the Suffolk cadets
are Robert F. Deedy and Carl W. Hubner of Patchogue.
Mr. and Mrs. John Wnenta of
Patchogue have announced the
engagement of their daughter, Cynthia,
to Joseph Nizza, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Nizza, also of Patchogue.
Miss Wnenta is a 1972 graduate of
Patchogue-Medford High School and
attended Suffolk County Community
College. She is presently employed in
the offices of Rollic Inc. in Patchogue.
Mr. Nizza graduated from Patchogue
High in 1971 and is a graduate of
Denver Automotive and Diesel College
in Denver, Colo. He is employed by
Grumman Aerospace. No date has
been set for the wedding.
Navy Aviation Boatswain’s Mate
Third Class Edward F. Nolan, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Nolan of Bay
Avenue, has reported for duty aboard
the training aircraft carrier USS
Lexington, homeported in Pensacola,
Fla. A 1968 graduate of Patchogue
High School, he joined the Navy in
September 1968.
Marine Private Frank J. Archer Jr.,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Archer
of Price Street, Patchogue, graduated
from basic training at the Marine
Corps recruit depot here. He is a former
student of Patchogue High School.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gray Sr., of
Waverly Avenue, Patchogue, announce
the engagement of their daughter, Terri
Lynn, to Mr. John H. Yoos, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Yoos Sr., of Old Neck Road,
Center Moriches. A wedding date has
been set for June 15, 1974.
Miss Maureen Fogarty, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. George Fogarty Jr., of
Fuoco Street, Bellport, was surprised
with a bridal shower given in her honor
on June 27 at the home of her aunt,
Mrs. John Ell of Fuoco Street. The
shower was given by her attendants,
Miss Margaret Ell of Bellport, Miss
Susan Kojick of Lake Ronkonkoma
and Miss Susan Spaccarotella of
Patchogue. Maureen will be married
on Aug. 4 to James Ullian of Holtsville.
Dr. and Mrs. Walton Shreeve and
their children have moved into their
new home on Leisurely Lane from their
former residence on Bellport Lane.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pizzo of Head
of the Neck Road announce the arrival
of their first child, Kristine Carol,
on June 21 at St. John’s Hospital in Smithtown.
Michael, Laurie and Jennifer Fish of
Coral Springs, Fla., are visiting their
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Randolph
Fish of North Howells Point Road, for three weeks.
Navy Signalman Second Class
Dwight F. Cochran, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Dwight Cochran and husband of the
former Miss Judith A. Schroeder, all
of Eatondale Avenue, Blue Point, is
participating in readiness training
exercises in the Caribbean. Port visits
include New York City and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

New officers of the Patchogue Rotary
Club were installed at a dinner-dance
held recently at Mr. Lee’s restaurant.
They are: Clifford Bennett, president;
Walter A. Roe, vice president; Albert
Riberdy, secretary, and Neil Esposito,
treasurer. Outgoing president is Robert E. Lanka.
William Panetta of Herbert Circle,
Patchogue, received his master’s degree
in business administration from the
University of Connecticut Graduate
School at Storrs.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Puma of
Patchogue celebrated their 25th
wedding anniversary June 22 with a
party at the Huntington Town House.
Over 100 relatives and friends attended,
including their children, Mrs. Ida Bach
of Holtsville, and Julian and Charles
Jr., of Patchogue.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mucci of Patchogue
were married May 19 in St. Francis
de Sales R.C. Church, Patchogue.
Following the ceremony a reception
was held at the Middle Island Country
Club. The couple took a wedding trip to
the Poconos. Bride is the former Miss
Veronica Jeanne Stelling of Patchogue.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jahke of
Patchogue announce the engagement
of their daughter, Jerylee, to Mark Alan
Cline of Selden. Miss Jahke is a 1973
graduate of Patchogue-Medford High
School and plans on attending Suffolk
Community College in the fall. Mr. Cline
is a 1971 graduate of Newfield. He also
plans on attending Suffolk Community
College in the fall. No date has been set for the wedding.
Constance A. Clemente of Harris
Street, Patchogue, received an
Associate in Applied Science degree in
nursing recently from Orange County
Community College at the school’s 23rd
commencement exercises.
Miss Barbara Schlosser, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schlosser of
Private Road, East Patchogue, has been
named to the spring semester Dean’s
List at Ithaca College for the School
of Health, Physical Education and
Recreation. Miss Schlosser is a junior
physical education major and a 1970
graduate of Bellport High School.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Stephani of Lenox
Avenue, East Patchogue, held a Fourth
of July party at their home in honor
of Mrs. James Stephani’s family, who
have been residing in Hagerman for
107 years. A total of 101 relatives and
friends attended the gala celebration party.
Ronald and Thomas Neumann of
Munsell Road, Raymond Cicalese of
Munsell Road and Randy Staggs of
Bellport went to Shea Stadium on
Sunday to see the Mets vs. the Braves.
Miss Jane Potter, daughter of Mrs.
and Mrs. Harmon Potter of Rogers
Avenue, Bellport, returned home Friday
night after attending the University of
Southampton in England for one year.
Sgt. and Mrs. Robert Eleazer arrived
from Korea on the Fourth of July and
will be spending their 30-day leave with
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Eleazer Sr., of
Fourth Street before going to California,
where Sgt. Eleazer will be stationed.
Mrs. Andrew Underhill of Bellport
Lane was awarded two “A” awards
by the Historical Society of Early
American Decoration for her glasses,
which were considered to be faithful
representations of gold leaf on glass, as
done in this country during the early 19th century.

Navy Fireman Recruit George L.
Jones, son of Mrs. Eleanor Jones
of South Ocean Avenue, Patchogue,
graduated from recruit training at
the Naval Training Center at Great
Lakes, Ill.
William Fadeley, son of Mr. and Mrs.
William H. Fadeley Sr., of Pine Neck
Avenue, East Patchogue, graduated
from Jones College in Jacksonville,
Fla., on June 16. Mr. Fadeley received
a Bachelor of Science degree in
management. His future plans
include opening a food specialty shop
in Patchogue.
The Patchogue Recreation
Department’s annual Old-Timers
game brought back 31 players who
participated in the fast-pitch league
in the 1950s. Hi Smith, the senior oldtimer,
had the honor of throwing out
the first ball. Roy Krieger and Chris
Newham matched pitches, Fred LaBua
served as umpire and Jim Barbanell
was the official scorer. Bill Rooney
showed he can still hit as he poled one
over the left-field fence. Bill Cockerill
and Sam Perry served as honorary
managers.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Crabtree of
Norton Street, Patchogue, have
announced the engagement of their
daughter, Loree Elizabeth, to Edward
Taaffe of Marvin Street, Patchogue.
Miss Crabtree is a 1972 graduate of
Patchogue-Medford High School. Mr.
Taaffe is a 1970 graduate of Newfield
High School. The future bride and
her fiancé are both enrolled at Middle
Tennessee State University and are
majoring in business. No date has
been set for the wedding.
Recently, a group consisting of
mothers and guests enjoyed a buffet
at Felice’s of Patchogue, then traveled
by bus to the Jones Beach Marine
Theatre to see the show, “Carousel,”
all as guests of the Patchogue
Chamber of Commerce Merchants
Division. The mothers in the group
were those whose names were chosen
from among the thousands entered by
shoppers during this year’s Mothers
Day sales event in Patchogue. The
bus trip to Jones Beach is an annual
program offered by Patchogue
merchants.
Miss Linda Friedel, daughter of
Mrs. William Friedel of Schoenfeld
Boulevard, Patchogue, was the guest
of honor at a surprise bridal shower
at the home of Mrs. George Ehmann
of Blue Point on Saturday, July 7. The
shower was given by her bridesmaids.
Miss Friedel will be married Aug. 18
at St. Francis de Sales R.C. Church,
Patchogue, to James R. Oliver, son
of Mr. and Mrs. James J. Oliver of
Patchogue.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas LeBrun of
Fairway Drive, Bellport, announce
the arrival of a baby girl, Jennifer, on
July 6. Welcoming Jennifer home from
Brookhaven Memorial Hospital were
her sisters, Suzanne and Jacqueline,
and her brother, Richard.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bedell of Country
Club Road entertained 57 members
and guests of the Hearth Club at a
Hawaiian Night on Saturday evening.
A delicious Hawaiian dinner was
served with lovely Hawaiian music
in the background. Serving on the
committee were Mr. and Mrs. Emory
Van Horn, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth L.W.
Rose, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Vollmer
and Mr. and Mrs. Rowland Smith.
Christian Heins, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Heins of Academy Lane,
celebrated his 5th birthday on July 5
with a party in his honor. Helping him
to celebrate were Kelly, Matthew and
Michael Porter, Kristen Binnington,
Peter and Andrew Raggio, Pamela
Waterman, Kristen Ferrigno, Amber
Rice, Kathy Reilly, Megan Kerins, Dina
Raddicka and Julie Bergin.
