A Teacher went to school on Monday
morning and discovered a dead mule (jackass to the knowing) in the
school yard. He called the police. Since there did not appear to be any
foul play, the police referred the Teacher to the Health Department.
They said since there was no health
threat that he should call the Building and Grounds Department. The
Director of Building and Grounds said he could not remove the mule
without authorization from the Stuperintendent.
Now, the Teacher knew the
Stuperintendent, and was not too eager to call him. The Stuperintendent
had a bad temper and was generally hard to deal with, but the Teacher
called him anyway.
The Stuperintendent did not
disappoint. He immediately began to rant and rave at the Teacher and
finally said, "Why did you call me anyway? Isn't it Building and
Grounds job to remove the dead jackass?"
The Teacher paused for a brief second
and then responded, "Yes, Dr. LaBeaver, it is Building and Grounds job
to remove the dead jackass, but I wanted to notify the next of kin
first!"
